Professional Guidance for Effective Wound Management

Wounds are rarely the same size, and a wide range of dressing sizes accommodates for different wound sizes.

The pad of the dressing you are using should be larger than the wound. For appropriate coverage, the pad of your dressing should be larger than the wound by 0.4” – 0.8” or 1-2 cm in all directions.

Wounds tend to heal faster with proper care, proper nutrition, and drinking plenty of fluids for good hydration. More details can be obtained from your healthcare professional, and additional treatment or medication may be required.

Dressings are meant to stay on for multiple days, depending on condition of wound and surrounding skin, or healthcare professional’s advice. The dressing should be changed if it becomes dirty or becomes wet. The dressing should also be changed when it looks like it is saturated (from inside) with wound drainage, which will be seen on outside of outermost dressing when drainage starts to reach the edges of the dressing’s pad.

Always start with cleaning your hands and having all necessary supplies for dressing change on hand and in a clean environment. Depending on the dressing you are using, you can find detailed application and dressing change instructions on the packaging box of the dressing or in the IFU (information for use) insert inside the box.

Our silicone foam dressings are constructed with gentle silicone adhesive, which is designed to help minimize pain during dressing removal.

If your wound persists, seems to be getting worse, or seems to be infected, please contact your healthcare professional. Additionally, animal bites, some insect bites, deep wounds, heavily bleeding wounds, and burns should be seen by a healthcare professional.

If your wound or surrounding skin becomes red, swollen, warm to the touch, has increased drainage, or you start to experience burning, pain, or a fever, please contact a healthcare professional for possible treatment of infection.

Avoid touching your wound and the dressing covering the wound. Keep your wound covered and keep the dressing covering the wound dry. Dressing should be changed when required or needed and otherwise left alone.
